During the official inauguration of the Greek Pavilion at MWC Barcelona 2026, the President of the Hellenic–Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Michalis Kokkinos, and the President of SEKEE (Hellenic Association of Innovative Applications Companies), Mr. Manos Macromallis, delivered statements outlining the strategic objectives of Greece’s national participation.

The Greek national delegation, organized for the thirteenth consecutive year, is co-coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Governance & Artificial Intelligence of Greece, Enterprise Greece, and SEKEE. Representatives emphasized the importance of sustained institutional support for domestic technology enterprises seeking to expand internationally. The primary objective of the national presence at MWC is to promote Greek innovation and strengthen the global footprint of the country’s technology sector.
Institutional Support and Bilateral Engagement
In their statements, particular emphasis was placed on the central role of the Hellenic–Spanish Chamber of Commerce in advancing bilateral commercial relations. This year’s participation focuses on supporting Greek companies aiming to establish operations within Spain, while also facilitating the attraction of Spanish investment capital to the Greek market.
The collaboration between the participating institutions was described as essential to achieving tangible and productive outcomes. Building upon a proven framework of joint action, the collective effort seeks to create new cross-border business opportunities and deepen economic ties between Greece and Spain through targeted initiatives.
Spain as a Strategic Gateway to Latin America
Spain was identified as a critical geographic and commercial hub providing access to the broader Latin American market, which has demonstrated growing strategic interest in recent years. According to statements made to InfoCom, Greek companies are encouraged to leverage Spain’s established commercial networks as a gateway for expansion into Latin America.
Institutional guidance and the identification of strong international partners were highlighted as key tools for successful entry into high-demand and strategically significant markets. The structured presence at MWC is therefore positioned not only as a European engagement, but as a broader international expansion platform.
Thirteen Years of Continuous National Participation
Now completing thirteen consecutive years, the Greek national delegation continues to seek strategic alliances to open new international markets. It was noted that the Hellenic–Spanish Chamber serves as a significant institutional partner within the Barcelona ecosystem and the wider Spanish innovation landscape.
This cooperation enhances the outward orientation of Greek enterprises, facilitating structured engagement with counterpart institutions and enabling the formation of collaborative business frameworks. Targeted institutional support at the enterprise level is considered critical to fostering gradual and sustainable international growth.
High-Level Contacts Supporting Digital Transformation
During the exhibition, high-level meetings are being pursued with the support of Enterprise Greece and the Ministry of Digital Governance & Artificial Intelligence. These engagements aim to accelerate Greece’s national digital transformation strategy.
Through the exchange of best practices and dialogue with international organizations, Greece seeks to adopt innovative solutions that enhance public administration and strengthen the domestic business environment. These strategic discussions are viewed as essential for shaping forward-looking policies that attract new technological investments and upgrade national infrastructure.
Special mention was made of the support provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Greek Commercial Attaché in Spain, whose diplomatic assistance contributes significantly to opening new avenues within the international business community.
Greece’s continued presence at MWC Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to innovation and its active participation in global technological developments, strengthening the country’s position on the international digital map.
