Barcelona, March 2025 – A high-level bilateral meeting between Greece and Spain marked a significant moment at MWC Barcelona 2025, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to deepen collaboration in the fields of digital governance, scientific research, and technology innovation.

The meeting brought together leading representatives from both governments, including:

  • Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Governance of the Hellenic Republic

  • Juan Cruz Cigudosa, Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Universities of Spain

  • Konstantinos Karantzalos, Secretary General of Telecommunications of Greece

  • Teresa Riesgo, Secretary General for Innovation of Spain

  • Eva Ortega-Paino, Secretary General of Research of Spain

Also in attendance were:

  • Aglaia Balta, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Spain

  • Spyros Diamantis, Chief of Staff to the Greek Minister of Digital Governance

The focus of the meeting was on expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as digital transformation of public administration, coordination of research policy, technology exchange, and joint cross-border innovation initiatives.

The discussion was held under the umbrella of the Innovation Technology Alliance, a flagship initiative of the Hellenic-Spanish Chamber of Commerce. The Alliance serves as a strategic framework to unite government institutions, academic leaders, and private sector innovators from both countries, fostering meaningful partnerships.

As a key catalyst for innovation diplomacy, the Hellenic-Spanish Chamber of Commerce continues to drive forward the Alliance’s mission: turning strategic vision into practical projects that address national goals and contribute to the broader European innovation agenda.

Further updates on these developments will follow as Greece and Spain continue their collaborative journey in digital and scientific leadership.
