Greece and Catalonia Advance Digital Public Services at MWC Barcelona 2025

Barcelona, March 2025 – On Day 3 of MWC Barcelona 2025, a focused working meeting between Greece and Catalonia highlighted the continued commitment of both regions to advancing digital governance, public sector innovation, and cross-border cooperation.

The meeting was held between Konstantinos Karantzalos, Secretary General for Telecommunications and Post of the Hellenic Republic, and Albert Tort, Secretary for Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of Catalonia.
The session took place at the Catalonia Pavilion, within the framework of the Innovation Technology Alliance, led by the Hellenic-Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
Michael Kokkinos, President of the Chamber, participated on behalf of the Alliance, reinforcing its role in facilitating strategic public-private collaboration across borders.
The agenda focused on five priority areas:
Digital Public Services – Sharing strategies to improve service delivery and digital access in both Greece and Catalonia
AI, Big Data, Cybersecurity – Enabling seamless integration and secure digital government operations
Citizen & SME Services – Enhancing digital tools and accessibility for everyday users and small businesses
Open Data & GovTech – Leveraging data transparency to boost participation and efficiency
Technology Partnerships – Identifying joint opportunities for innovation and EU-aligned collaboration
This meeting marked a key step forward in strengthening the digital bridge between Greece and Catalonia, enhancing shared efforts to scale innovation and improve public sector performance in line with broader European transformation goals.
