As highlighted in the previous section, universities have three core missions: education, research, and entrepreneurial activity/UBC. Similar to the personal interest of an academic, each institution has its own understanding on the importance of each activity / mission. Acknowledging the “new mission”, nowadays many institutions have one person on their board who is responsible for entrepreneurial activity and/or UBC. These are often named Vice President (VP) for partnerships, VP for enterprise, or VP for business development.
